Silicon Laboratories' Fellows Program recognizes the highest level
of technical achievement and contribution by a Silicon Laboratories
engineer. Silicon Laboratories' Fellows are selected based on proven
mastery of multiple aspects of mixed-signal design, support for the
mentoring and continuing education of the Silicon Laboratories
technical team, significant contributions to the company's technology
and a considerable, direct impact on business success through
technical innovation.
"Andy and Augusto have both contributed significantly to the
success of our core businesses. Andy's initial contributions to the
design of the silicon DAA began a long list of innovations across
multiple products in the modem and broadcast area," said Jeff Scott,
Fellow and Silicon Laboratories co-founder. "Augusto has been
instrumental to the success of our Aero® transceiver family as an
individual contributor and as a design team leader. Andy and Augusto's
strong mixed-signal skills and many design contributions have directly
resulted in commercial success for Silicon Labs."
Mr. Krone joined the company in 1997 and began work on the
company's first product, the silicon direct access arrangement (DAA).
Mr. Krone was also a vital member of the team that designed the
ISOmodem® embedded modem, which has captured approximately 50
percent share of satellite set-top boxes. In addition, Mr. Krone was
part of the design team that developed RF techniques currently being
applied in advanced broadcast products.
Prior to joining Silicon Laboratories, Mr. Krone was a design
manager at Cirrus Logic where he was responsible for professional
audio product development. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in
electrical engineering from the University of Illinois. Mr. Krone
holds more than 27 issued or pending patents in the area of
mixed-signal ICs.
Mr. Marques joined Silicon Laboratories in 1999 and was one of the
first members of the Aero transceiver development team. Mr. Marques
was the team leader on the Aero+ development and was the chief design
lead on the Aero II development, the first single-chip CMOS GSM/GPRS
transceiver. Most recently, Mr. Marques served as director of
engineering for transceiver products and now serves as the head of
Silicon Laboratories' Portugal Design Center.
Prior to joining Silicon Laboratories, Mr. Marques was an
associate professor for electronics and physics at the University of
Coimbra where he also consulted for silicon companies. Mr. Marques has
a bachelor's degree in computer engineering and a master's degree in
physics from the University of Coimbra, and a Ph.D. in
microelectronics from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. Mr. Marques
holds more than 16 issued or pending patents in the area of RF ICs.
