AUSTIN, Texas, May 19, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Silicon Laboratories Inc. (Nasdaq:SLAB) today announced that Russ Brennan, former chief financial officer, passed away at his home in Austin, Texas.

Russ joined Silicon Laboratories in September 2002, as chief financial officer where he was instrumental in establishing a solid financial foundation for the company's expansion. Russ was intent on fostering talent to create a deep finance team, and he spearheaded efforts that accelerated Silicon Laboratories' development into a multinational company.

Russ' distinguished career in the semiconductor industry began in 1978 at Texas Instruments. He later held various finance positions at Schlumberger/Fairchild and came to Silicon Laboratories from Analog Devices, where he was the vice president of finance and corporate controller. Russ received a master's in business from New York University Graduate School of Business and a bachelor's degree in economics from Boston College.

Russ built a legacy based on integrity and hard work. He was committed to prudent financial management and was a valued business partner to the CEOs and management teams he worked with. His strong global business acumen, his commitment to open dialog and his honesty characterized all his actions.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Russ also earned a reputation for being a driven and dynamic person who remained positive even through hardship and always had a kind word for those around him. He was a mentor and a friend to many in the industry and will be sorely missed.

The company would like to express gratitude for Russ' contribution, as a colleague and a friend, and convey sincere condolences to Russ' family. A funeral Mass will be held in Wellesley, Massachusetts, on Tuesday, May 23, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church. A memorial service will be held in Austin at a later date.
